The property market has gone through tough times in 2008 and it is looking tough for 2009. The main issue is that people are still struggling to get financing for mortgages, and without financing there just aren’t enough buyers, so prices fall. It’s that old tried and tested market factor of supply and demand, one there is no balance prices either rise, or fall as we are now seeing.
Sure, prices are not going to fall forever, there will come a time when the market hits bottom. This will vary by country. Prices first started to fall in USA, UK was then not far behind, and then even countries like Dubai saw big price falls.
Some people are predicting that USA property prices will start to recover in 2009, but it doesn’t look like that in countries such as UK. Many analysts are still predicting UK prices to fall further, possibly another 10% to 15%, with such falls in means it is still very tough to sell in the UK.
